The lodge offers the best view of the Arenal. If possible, you should choose a room with volcano View, then you have to look not every time, after a good prospect, if it grollt. The entire lodge is nicely laid out, the staff was very friendly and the rooms big enough. Everything was clean and neat. We are on our self organized tour through Costa Rica for a spur (with telephone. Reservation on the same day) in Arenal Observatory lodge and were positive surprised!HCLFHLAfter a somewhat adventurous arrival (about 9 kilometer from the last paved street of La Fortuna centre nearby), we were given a standard room in the 'La casona' (with always clean shared bathroom), which is about 500m from the main building. Very nice bungalows with refrigerator, large bathroom and a lovely terrace. Good service and everything was very clean. The place was within walking distance, 10-15 minutes (in the uphill uphill!). Better with a car. The hotel is really nice, if you don't mind from the thread pool. The chef tried, but everything was only slightly spiced. Therefor the prices are too high. The lodge is located at the foot of the volcano arena. From our bed and terrace, we had a direct view to the volcano. The rooms are very spacious with two nice big beds, a safe and a huge walk in shower. In the room there was a coffee maker. The complex is very spacious. There are many opportunities for hiking. Already several times at the hotel passed or made a stopover, I spend two days there once. You don't see tropical birds or palms, so you forget there, in Costa Rica and believes, if you are in Switzerland. In the restaurant are cow bells-from the speakers plays music from Switzerland. The hotel has an original Swiss bus and a small church, which one should see.
