Armacao de Pera

Armacao de Pera was originally a small fishing village, whose name resulted from the fishing tackle (armacao) which was used to catch tuna.
Today, Armacao de Pera is mainly a holiday destination, attracting a lot of vacationers with its beautiful beaches on the Algarve coast. The village, which counts about 7400 inhabitants, has the facilities to accommodate up to 65000 guests.
Armacao de Pera is especially great for families with small children, as the beaches are mostly lightly sloping and the water is warm and tranquil. Visitors can choose between the small bays in the west end or the sandy beach in the east, which stretches for about 7 kilometers up to Praia da Gale.

If you want to visit the surrounding cities, you do not necessarily need a rental car. There is a good bus connection to Portimao, Slives and Faro.

Armacao de Pera is a very lively village with a lot of shops, restaurants and bars, many of them located on the promenade, lining the beach. The promenade is also a popular place to go out , as many of the bars are open until late at night. In the fishing quarter above the Praia do Pescador are great fish restaurants, offering freshly caught fish and seafood.
From the small chapel Nossa Senhora da Rocha you have a great view of the coast. The chapel is located about 3,6 kilometers to the west of Armacao de Pera.
