After independence the city the population grew steadily, and with the beginning of the revolution in 1952, the exploded In the '60s and '70s, on the west bank of the Nile an enormous amount of new suburbs were built out of nothing. Unfortunately not enough to stop the housing shortage, so in the east cluttered slums arose. Even now there is overcrowding, poverty and pollution in Cairo.

Hospitals and Medical care
Because public hospitals are often inadequate, the private health care in Cairo is excellent. We recommend to drink botteled water and not from the tap, but drink enough so yu do not get dehydrated from the heat.

There are pharmacies that are open 24 hours. Your hotel reception will be able to give you information about this. The Anglo-American Hospital and Misr International Hospital are hospitals with first-aid service.s

pleasant hotel. Already getting a bit old, but for a stay in a large city at the outer periphery perfect. Especially recommendable is a room in the back part of the estate with view on the garden. The pyramids you will see during sleep, but it is considerable much quiet as right in front of the street. the cleanliness was OK if you request, that we here in Cairo and not in a European city. But it was really OK. Bed sheets and towels were clean, dishes was clean, general impression was maintai... Read more

The hotel consists of two-story buildings and bungalows and is located in a peaceful beautiful palm trees garden. Rooms, especially the bathroom were spacious. We had a small terrace, who does not have, the seating on the lawn under palm trees use. Tv with German Transmitters, easy to serving safe in the room and an empty Miniküchschrank, in which you drinks can store. Wi-Fi in all the rooms however not cheap (about 10 euros per day) The staff are friendly, the English for the communication a... Read more

Hotel of the luxury class with very beautiful rooms. Cleanliness for Egypt good but minor flaws available ( filthy door frames, different shelf areas dusty and not cleaned during the stay) breakfast buffet very good! all together the service was good and the staff all very friendly! Spacious room with good facilities, the hotel category accordingly. ( coffee machine, hair dryer, bathrobes and slippers, etc.) cleanliness was acceptable but much improved. Balcony door frame as already descr... Read more

The hotel area was clean and quiet and offers a pleasant withdrawal to the lively streets Cairo. the staff were very friendly and at the same time not pushy. the food is good and diverse, however for Egyptian proportions very expensive (almost European prices), if you don't as half board booked. there are mosquito because of the political unrest in the fall 2011, there were hardly any tourists in the city and in the hotel The hotel area consists of several 3-story bungalows, which the rooms m... from the outside not so really beautiful to look at but OK. but you spend more on inside. from the inside not super chic but clean, tidy, offering a clear view and the wait (for whatever) more than pleasant. Rooms are small, but it is only in the room is to sleep, more than enough and it is everything you need. Service in the restaurant as well as at the front desk and room service are also very satisfactory. as I only breakfast had, I can't say much. except: breakfast is more than OK. ther... Read more
