Cannes is chic and an integral part of the playground of the rich known as the Cote d’Azur or blue coast. Prices for everything in Cannes can be high but even out of season there is a tremendous international atmosphere.
Traditions
Cannes will forever be associated with the Festival de Cannes or Cannes Film Festival which made its international mark in the 1950s helped by the coquette beauty of Brigitte Bardot. Today, Cannes plays host to numerous international markets and festivals although the Film Festival in May is far and away the most important.

Most people in the Cannes area would consider themselves to be either practicing or non-practicing Roman Catholics. There was a time when Protestants tried to spread their word but were generally slaughtered or driven out of Provence.

Culinary SpecialitiesCannes is very much an international town and, consequently, there is an international flavour to the restaurants. French food is readily available but it is perfectly easy to find restaurants serving Italian food and “American”.
Lifestyle
Life is good in Cannes because it is a magnet for international tourism. The crescent-shaped beach offers beautiful sand and the local restaurants have a variety of menus and prices, depending on their proximity to the beach.
Sights
Cannes old town is located on a steep hill and is a warren of narrow streets and fabulously quaint places to eat. The Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Provence is located in an 18th century mansion and is the place to visit if your interests lie in viewing prehistoric artefacts. Other museums of interest in Cannes include the Musée de la Castre, home to Peruvian relics and museums featuring items from the sea, music and the world of perfumery.

(wrong if you want breakfast extra paid costs? Euro 40 per person... Read more
