Information about Cascais

Trip Preparation

Brief introduction
Cascais is a town in the district of Lisbon, located on the Atlantic ocean.

Weather
In Cascais, summer is quite hot and the sun shines almost every day. Even at night there might be temperatures around 22°C. Winter temperatures are mild and never below zero.

Country and People

History
The area of Cascais has been inhabited since prehistoric times and although there are remains of several Roman villas, it was during the Arab invasion when the area flourished.
Cascais is known in Portugal because in the sixteenth century, the first lighthouse of the country was built here which, unfortunately, has not survived to the present. Its international recognition stems from the fact that the Portuguese royal family liked to spend the summers here.

Getting Around

Transport
Cascais can be reached by train (the yellow line from Lisbon), by road or by sea.

From Lisbon Airport you can take a taxi which costs about 22 €. You can also take either bus line 91 or 45 to "Cais do Sodré" (0.9 €). A transportation pass for all trains and buses in the area costs 12 €.

It is a hotel which middle the sixties built and also today this style has remained loyal. The facade would have a new Painting necessarily inside was all great reasonable. Everything was clean impression. We had a double room with breakfast booked, you could evenings in the restaurant food, we didn't use. In the whole hotel there was free (!) Wi-Fi. Our room was on the fifth floor with a magnificent view from the balcony of the city and Bay of Cascais. The room was big and renovated. The bed... Read more

We were already for the second time in this hotel, however we booked this time our child with it. First of all, this hotel is absolutely child-friendly! we stayed in the small (1 bedroom) used villas and the looked the Villas firstly really loved it (as the house of snow). Also inside it looked great-the color of the furniture was a bit unusual (in a strange green and brown decor). what bothered us most of the villas was, that they just were not cleaned. I myself once mopped, as our son on th... Read more
