Country and People

Customs / CultureThe people in Edinburgh take great pride in their city and although they are Scots they make it clear that they are from Edinburgh. Edinburgh is quite close to the border with England, and the English were responsible for building most of Edinburgh’s magnificent buildings and bridges, but it would be a mistake to refer to a resident of Edinburgh as “English”.
Traditions
There are many traditions in Edinburgh that are upheld throughout the year but the two main attractions are the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Edinburgh International Festival that attracts performers, writers and audiences from all over Britain and across the world. The event lasts for about six weeks during the height of summer.
New Year’s Eve or Hogmanay is a very big event in Edinburgh, and Scotland as a whole, as is Burn’s Night.
Religion
Protestant Christianity is the principal religion with the Church of Scotland attracting the largest congregations. Islam and Judaism are also represented.

The rooms were clean and spacious. The highlight was a kettle and tea or instant Nescafe, this is a really nice, liebeswürdige detail, the stay very much, especially after a day in fog and rain and cold and wind :-o. Apart from that in the bath everything functioned and was really great. Oh and another goodies was a drying apparatus, which clothes drying could after a day with the aforementioned Weathers, you will will have ;-O

the hotel is located in a quiet lateral road close to the castle hill. The guests are too many tourists from gigabyte/USA. The hotel is rather small. It makes an very well maintained impression. I would recommend this hotel with clear conscience recommend it. We will definitely come again.
We had a spacious superior double room with window to lateral road. Using the air conditioning the temperature regulated well. The window can a gap be opened. All in all was the room very clean. One small d... Read more
