We've stayed 11 days in Kalutara in Royal Palms Beach. Genrally, hotel is clean, staff is helpfull, of course, they are waiting for a small tip, but anyway, if you do not give them a tip, they are still smiling and ready to help.
Pool is quite big and clean.
Rooms as quite big and clean as well.

Scenic hotel but poor location and patchy service
Hotel Avani Kalutara Resort in Kalutara, Sri Lanka West Coast
The rooms were well furnished and clean, but the pool surrounds and seating area was generally insufficient to accomodate everyone comfortably. The all- inclusive package is great, as the cost of drinks otherwise would have been prohibitive. Some of the locally sourced all-inclusive drinks were undrinkable eg the wines, brandy, whiskey etc, but gin and tonics and beer were good.
