Country and People
Customs / Culture
Local mining resulted in Las Vegas developing as a railroad town in the early days of the 20th century. The construction of the Hoover Dam in the 1930s provided the catalyst for encouraging the growth of a residential population together with the legalisation of gambling. The first casinos were owned by organised crime bosses and by the 1950s casinos and hotels had popped up everywhere. The 1960s saw Howard Hughes buying hotels and casinos which today offer the heady mix of gambling, high class entertainment and luxury poolside living.
Traditions

Religion
There are numerous chapels and churches in Las Vegas which was once a Mormon settlement. Now, people go to as Vegas and get married dressed as Elvis.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during our trip around the US over summer. The hotel was very nice. It was held clean and everyone was very friendly. The hotel is very big and it takes quite a while to get from one place to the other, especially to get to the casino and the shops. It also takes quite long to walk through the entire hotel to get to the strip through the main entrance. But it is a very nice walk through pretty much the whole hotel.
As the hotel was only built a few years ... Read more

Reception staff was not very friendly and we had to wait quite a long time for check-in. However, we got a free upgrade to a refurbished "Go" room which was on the 21st flooor with a nice view on the strip. The room had everything you would expect plus some fancy extras like the tv in the bathroom mirror. The combination of colors is a bit strange, but overall the room was nice and very spacious. Unfortunately, the pool was closed. Otherwise, hotel and casino are in good shape and the Flaming... Read more

Cons
1. $25 resort fee: When I was paying my hotel bill, the $25 turned into a $28 a day resort fee. $25 + $3 tax (12% state tax) = $28. Everyday you stay, add another $28. Here is the catch; they say you get a newspaper every day; which you have to go down to the front desk in the lobby to get everyday yourself. The buy one get one free buffet; you only get one for your whole stay. So say you are staying a week, you only get one coupon for the whole week. Also, you only get one $20 credi... Read more

Nice hotel a little walk from the strip and without casino which makes the stay calm and pleasant. And to get wild you just need to take complimentary shuttle to Strip! Free wifi, large bathroom with both shower and bath, very comfortable bed, nice pool area, gold-plated street windows, nice and polite staff. Everything made my stay pleasant. Read more
