ReligionAlthough there are many churches within Leipzig, religion does not play a big role in Leipzig due to its socialistic past. Traditionally, Leipzig has been Protestant since the reformation.
History
Leipzig was founded in 1165 by Otto II, Margrave of Meissen. During that time the two big churches St. Thomas Church and St. Nicolas Church were build. In 1409 University of Leipzig was founded which is one of the oldest universities in Germany. Since the end of the 15th century Leipzig developed fairs which made Leipzig one of the most important emporiums until World War II. During World War II approx. 60% of the inner city of Leipzig were destroyed. After World War II Leipzig was part of the Soviet Zone and became part of the GDR. Due to that the international importance of Leipzig diminished. However, it was still one of the biggest and most potent cities in the GDR. In 1989 people came together in Leipzig St. Nicolas Church in order to demonstrate against GDR rules. What started as a small gathering became a big movement which was one of the courses that led to the opening of the German Wall.Since then Leipzig has tried to recover and has build a young start up scene. However, the city has still approx. 15% unemployed people.

we had a double room in the gardenhouse, double room number 7, very spacious, beautiful bathroom, the inner courtyard/ mediterranean garden back. Breakfast buffet inclusive. Parking inclusive.

The Westin is a very comfortable hotel. We were on floor 23 with a view of the city center from Leipzig. The impression was refined and very clean. We booked half-board.
the room was spacious. The couch I would throw out and 2 armchair replace. The view of the city (in particular in the evening) is very nice. There is a safe with power connection.
the access to the internet was in my opinion with 7.50 p. Hour very expensive.

very pleasant hotel at the edge of Leipzig. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Partly international guests
the rooms are spacious and very clean. In the apart from that very nice bathroom the shower head was very furred up, so little water came out. Furthermore the height of the shower head on the pole not freeze. Therefore, I would prefer a sun off. Everything other was tiptop-so critical to a very high standard.

the hotel has a very nice Outside and has two sepperate inputs the at the beginning of something confusing, but later are obvious.
the room was brilliant, clean and, even though we a room to the street figured out we have no noise belongs.
we have also the breakfast additionally booked. There was a enough big breakfast buffet and every morning according to your wishes fresh Rüh -or fried egg.

We had the Zoopackage -weekend. The comfortable hotel is located in the of Leipzig. Beautiful House with great winter garden and large park. The directly adjacent stadiums was on the first evening a bit noisy, but from 22 o'clock was absolute peace.
