Leysin is an old village being inhabited since 1231 and has a very old peaceful history. Leysin is known to being a popular skiing resort due to its unique ski slopes.

Traditions
It is somewhat of a tradition to go have a cheese fondue after a long day of skiing in the restaurant at the top of the mountain which provides one of the most breathtaking views over the Alps. This restaurant can also be seen all around the canton Vaud at night as during the night it has a light sensor which changes color.

Airports / Car rental
The closest Airport to Leysin is Geneva International Airport which receives a large number of international flights coming in and out on a daily basis. At the airport it is possible to rent a car at one of the various car rental companies; however this should be reserved in advance. From the airport it is also possible to travel to Leysin via train as the train service in Switzerland is extremely well operated.

Public transport
Other than the “SBB” train service Leysin has its own local bus service which rotates in the town making everything accessible.
