My wife and me go by car from Norway to Italy usually at least once a year, normally in May-June or August-September. We have tried a high number of hotels in the Tirol district of Austria over the years, with stays lasting from 1 to 3 days. Many villages and hotels there are great, but the Parkhotel Matrei has become our absolute favourite, ideally situated as it is, directly on the "old" Brenner highway, and only a couple of minutes from the Brenner Autobahn.
