Country and People

History
The people who originally inhabited this area was the Kumeyaay people. The area was originally named San Miguel when it was discovered in 1542 by the Portuguese. Sebastian Vizcaino, who mapped the area in 1602 gave the city the name San Diego. Then in 1769 he established the first mission in Alta California, and people started to settle in the area.
Spain lost possession of California when Mexico became independent from Spain in 1821. The city became a much more important city in the US than it ever was when it was part of Mexico.
In recent years the city has become an important center for the biotech industry and telecommunications.

The hotel is nicely located on Shelter Island. It is well arranged, the condition is good. Everything was clean and neat. Rooms were big enough. With flat screen TV, microwave, refrigerator, air conditioning. Everything was clean and in good condition. Super comfy beds. Was absolutely in order. Very friendly staff. There were no complaints. San Diego is a very beautiful, worth seeing town. Visit the Balboa Park, with several museums and lush greenery. It's worth it. Breakfast only use it.... Read more

Nice big and right in the middle of San Diego located hotel with large rooms, pool, free internet both in the lobby and in the room. The hotel made a well kept impression and you were always treated in a friendly welcome. We had breakfast included in the price. Rooms were large and well appointed. Bathroom was a good size and the room was clean. The two queen beds were very large. The staff is very friendly and check in and check out were very good. Parking is available at the hotel for $10... Nice hotel in a good location and with smaller size. The hotel was clean, the staff (no matter if at the reception, at breakfast or at the hotel parking) was very friendly, we booked with breakfast included, the guests and age structure was very mixed. Biggest plus for me was the nice view, we were in the 12 floor=> nice view of the harbor to the airport etc. .. The rooms are pretty big, but the balcony tiny (you can sit outside to 2T much but no more), the decor was ok, flatscreen with the ... Read more

At the Best Western Seven Seas this is a motel in the San Diego hotel circle. There are about 70 - 100 hotels and motels on opposite sides. Our motel-room was cleaned every day and very left clean and tidy. Breakfast and dinner were not included in the price. The motel does not have its own restaurant every meal could be taken. I can't say anything to the guest structure. The rooms were spacious, clean and attractive. In the bathroom was a toilet and shower/tub available. The sink + mirror w... Read more

Typical motel 6: better than nothing! OK, not much better... But who for a short trip no high expectations at luxury represents and nothing more expected as a central, clean and cheap accommodation, which is in the houses of motel 6 chain well at home. Also is next to the motel for two parking spaces ample surface parking available. The rooms are modern renovated and decorated in a friendly style, however small and offer by the reduced facilities little comfort. Also the bathroom is so tiny, ... Read more
