Situated on the southern Costa Brava, at 100 Km from the French border and 95 Km from the cityof Barcelona, the village of Tossa de Mar is a tourist resort that has maintained the character of its old quarter and has been respectful towards its natural environment.
It has a surface of about 39 Km2, the great part of which is covered by woods, and a length of coast of approximately 14 Km, with numerous coves and beaches. The climate is typically Mediterranean.
The walledenceinte of the "Vila Vella", dating from the 12th - 14th centuries, is a historic-artistic monument considered of national interest, and it constitutes an important centre of attraction for visitors.
Tossa de Maroffers a wide range of accommodation, complemented by a good gastronomy,entertainment and leisure facilities.
All this shapes Tossa as a recognized tourist destination, ideal for enjoying a nice holiday.

Tossa is like an open-air museum whereprehistoric remains overlap with Roman Turissa, medieval Tursaand today’s Tossa, one-time retreat for artists and intellectuals and now hosttown for tourists and
visitors.The most interesting place to visit in Tossa isthe Vila Vella medieval town. The most noteworthy of the Roman villas inthe area is undoubtedly Els Ametllers considered as one of the most interestingin the ancient Roman province of Tarraco.
The Tossa Museum houses a collection of modernpaintings which date from the period between 1930 and 1936 when numerousSpanish and foreign painters took up residence in the town, many of whom laterbecame well known figures in the art world. The Celestial Violinist byMarc Chagall has pride of place in the collection.
The new Mediterranean Lighthouse InterpretationCentre, situated in Tossa lighthouse, is an educational and sensory voyagethrough the technology, personality, history and evolution of the lighthouseand the world of the lighthouse keeper.

Coming from the North, access by the motorway AP-7, taking the exit number 9 towards Vidreres, Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar, or by the national N-II road, going out in Vidreres, Lloret de Mar. Afterwards there are two options to get to Tossa: you can continue towards Lloret and then to Tossa or you can take the road that goes towards San Feliu and Platja d'Aro and take the exit to an inner road going directly to Tossa.
Coming from the South, access by the motorway AP-7, taking the exit number 9 towards Vidreres, Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar, and continue towards Tossa following the above instructions. Or also by the motorway C-32, taking the last exit to Blanes Costa Brava and by the national N-II road, going out in Blanes. In this case it's necessary to follow the signs to Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar.
