Airports / Car rental
When travelling to Zihuatanejo one can travel via air to the local airport “Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa airport” which receives domestic and international flights coming in and out on a daily basis. Most hotel resorts offer a free shuttle service which will pick you up at the airport. It is also possible to rent a car at the airport; therefore it is possible to reach your resort by travelling along the highway.

Public transport
The area provides a high transportation facility in buses. There are luxury buses which provide services to travel to bigger cities for those who want to explore things outside of Zihuatanejo. These luxury buses can be found at the bus station located near the town and can be reached via taxi. There are also local buses which allow one to travel within the city, some of these lines are Autovias, Estrella do Oro, Tap and a few others. Most places to go in Zihuatanejo can also be reached by walking.

Taxis can be found at the airport and at taxi stand within Zihuatanejo. They can also be ordered at the hotel resorts directly.

Events / Lifestyle
Zihuatanejo has many events occurring during the year which also demonstrate the lifestyle the locals’ life. At the community amphitheater which is located near the pier where the fish market is also held, events occur every weekend and on Sundays celebrations are usually held during which it is possible to watch folklore dancing on the stage. Other events include the “Three King’s Day” celebration and the “Mardi Gras festival” during which carnival is celebrated.

Culinary Specialities
In Zihuatanejo the traditional Mexican cuisine is served however this area also specializes in seafood. The typical Mexican specialties include fajitas, burritos, tacos, guacamole and various sauces. In Zihuatenejo the post popular local dishes include: “tritas” which are fish strips, “pescadillas” with are fish tacos, “a la talla” which is fish backed in foil and of course the shrimp dishes are a main local specialty.

Sights
There are many things to see and do in Zihuatanejo, the area is somewhat different to others as it is very relaxed and typically Mexican. Some of the main things to do and see in Zihuatanejo include the Bahía Zihuatanejo which is surrounded by a variety of beautiful beaches such as Play La Ropa and Playa las Gatas. At the beaches one can do a variety of water sports such as snorkeling and diving, boat cruises are also very recommended. One can also go fishing, playing Golf, walk around the fish market, going to the Museum of Archeology, going into town to experience the Mexican traditional flair and many other things.
