An hotel with style, but not with Schauinsland

Hotel
4.5

The hotel was renovated, the new part, with sun deck looks very good. Part of the rooms were altered. The second stage of the hotel, has 9 floors and they do not look so massive because the pool and the solarium are in the 5th floor. The other floors are not displaced.

Location
6.0

The blick from 'Los Gigantes' is simply fantastic and always nice. All the rooms have view of the sea, some have more view of the inland rather. One should look to the left of the facility in order to see the sea. There is a dance hall very close and it can be heard until late at night. Luckily we could move from the original room to a bigger room (some charge) and the noise did not bother us anymore. Here we saved with the tour manager.

Service
5.0

The staff was good and friendly, but so many contact points are not available. Specially in the restaurant, it is important to choose a good time to eat because if not one is not going to eat relaxed and it is going to be cramped.

Gastronomy
5.0

The restaurant was good and much better than the hotel we had in our last vacation in Teneriffa. The grill corner had fresh food every day, there was always buffet too. With the big variety offered, everyone could find something to eat. Very romantic is to eat outside in the terrace, but there is not a lot of place.
There was a 'A la Carte' restaurant, but we were never there; it was not very busy as far as we could see.

Sport & Entertainment
3.5

Little was offered and we did not do anything.

Room
4.0

Apparently not all the rooms have been modernized, but ours was really nice. Air-conditioner and mini bar available. At the beginning it was a paradise for us, but the last days were not so good because we had a new neighbor who was very noisy. The rooms are clairaudient, we were lucky that we had a quiet nieghbor most of the time.

Tips and recommendations

Be careful when making the reservation. At the beginning we had a reservation with Schauinsland, but we had a small room in front of a Disco. Paying a bit extra we got a bigger room on the side of the sea. Unfortunately the airport was further away on the returning flight, it left from the North airport. Worse was the transfer to the airport because it never came. We had to take a taxi for $130 Euros, money that we haven't gotten back yet.
