Hotel
6.0

The hotel was amazing, one of the best that I have ever had the pleasure in visiting. It is a family run hotel for over 40 years, which we found very welcoming. The facilities were second to none with a wellness centre, incorporating a sauna and massage centre. The food was unbelievable in that I ate everything. I am a very fussy eater and I found myself even eating the vegetables, which I very rarely touch. Everything was cooked to perfection and presented in a delightful manner. The hotel is very clean and well laid-out. The comfy couches and warm central fire in the lounge area was very relaxing.

Location
5.5

The village was idyllic, the surrounding views amazing and peaceful. The village although quiet had everything you needed, such as a supermarket, bank and tourist information office. There is a free bus service, which we used to get to the gondola for snowboarding. The hotel is situated just as you enter the main village, it only took approx 40 minutes from the airport, the drive was pleasant. There is ample parking at the hotel and there are policies in the village that encourage you to leave your car for the duration of your stay and use other methods of transport free of charge.

Service
6.0

We couldn't have been made more welcome or to feel at ease. Although Austria is mainly German speaking all the staff in the hotel made every effort to speak our language, which is English. We didn't have to worry about a thing, the hotel arranged everything for us such as ski-pass and airport transfers, all for exceptionally reasonable prices. The staff were very competent and efficient at their jobs wether it was the restaurant, bar, cleaning or reception duties. Every member of staff was friendly and engaged in conversation when appropriate. The staff were knowledgeable in the food and wines.

Gastronomy
6.0

There was one restaurant in the hotel, which we did not feel we had to leave to sample food elsewhere. The food was out of this world. Everything cooked to perfection. The view over the mountains was second to none. There was a bar in the restaurant and also in the lounge area. The lounge area had ample seating, whether you wanted privacy or a tremendous view over the mountains or just to sit in front of a nice warm fire. The food was not typically any culture, we sampled some Italian, Austrian and british type food. The buffett breakfast was amazing especially the different types of bread mmmmm.

Sport & Entertainment
5.0

The wellness centre was very good and there were many facilities to choose from ie sauna, relaxation area, massage, solarium amongst many others. Towels and robes were provided. The view from the centre over the mountains was also lovely. There was facilites for ski equipment to be stored and heated. The hotel could arrange ski-passes and offered information and assistance with rental, which we did not require. There was also internet access available.

Room
6.0

The room was spacious, well decorated, tasteful and refreshing. The bathroom was clean and pristine, with ample towels and mirrors. The fittings were all in good condition and well serviced. We had a balcony with a view over the mountains. The room was fitted with a TV, seating area with a table and the beds were very comfortable. The sheets were changed as necessary and room cleaned every day. My only complaint was the noise from the snowplough scraping the road in the early morning as the metal plough was not fitted with a rubber guard! Our room was one of the cheapest but you would never have guessed it was beautiful and comfortable. There were ample sockets to power our laptop and speakers, cameras and many other appliances. We were situated above the kitchen and staff area and were not disturbed by any smells or noises. The hotel corridors were all plush and well decorated. The hotel was also disabled friendly with level access and lifts. The conditon of all the furnishings and decoration was exemplary.

Tips and recommendations

My main concern was not being able to use debit or credit cards whilst on holiday, so take plenty of cash, at least you can use it up at duty free when going home! There were no problems with reception for mobile phones. We were there for a snowboarding holiday and could not fault the quality of the ski-board resort. The restaurant on the slopes where we had lunch every day was excellant, the food and service both very good. The staff very helpful and eager to help with speaking our language. The slopes were very wide and plenty of room to blast away on our snowboards. On some runs we didn't even see another person.

Hotel review marks: 6 suns = very good … 1 sun = unsatisfactory
