Hotel review for Hotel Las Brisas Club Guardalavaca

Hotel

One can not give any overall information about this hotel, as there are quilte a lot differences between hotel and bungalows. The hotel can only be described as impertinence. But in the villas chosen by us after one night of experience in the hotel, you can feel very well and enjoy your holiday. However, we have had one week of round trip before that - so one is not spoilled! I would award 1 star to the hotel, 5 stars for the villas.

Location

The distance to the beach is optimal. The park, where the villas are situated, is beautifull.

Service

Well we have had a very good experience by extra service benefits. Also the personnel was friendly, actually very friendly. One must make "landtypical" cutbacks by the room cleaniness. Therefore I would give 5 stars to the villas.

Gastronomy

It is unfortunately not that great with food - that was actually the only negative point - also for the villas. There the buffetrestaurant was quite pleasant in contrast to masses handling in the hotel - simply only gruesome! - but the food itself was not much better. We were lucky, that this restaurant was opened again only at our arrival, so that later it was seldom visited. After the opening had taken place, it was again full and besides it was rather full of the guests from the hotel - and they seem like used on a big scale to hit over the dishes. In any case after short period of time the buffet looked like full of garbage. To my mind these problems arise because of the fact that hotel and villas meet totally different social levels - that goes along pretty bad with each other. We were disappointed from Italian local, somewhat better was the fishrestaurant.

Sport & Entertainment

Lying chairs were at first more than enough available - later one had to "reserve" in time. Watersport was possible - somewhat disturbing was by katamaran, the openly request for a good tip.

Room

There can be hardly anything said for this hotel in terms of the furniture - unsatisfying. It was okay in villas-suite. The sanitarian facilities functioned without any problem - it is not natural in Cuba. However, everything didnt seem so great (any more). One can easily give 4 stars for the villas.

Tips and recommendations

The price-performance ratio is kind of disturbing after our experience in Cuba. 2 years before we have had a comparable holiday with similar price - the hotels seemed to have considerably better levels as the ones in Cuba. One has overall an impression that one as tourist is used as foreign currency source, and besides these foreign currencies benefited the hotel or the infrastructure. The travel time in February seems to be pretty optimal - the weather was simply admirable.
