Hotel review for Hotel RIU Don Miguel

Hotel

The hotel makes a good and clean impression, even when one does not remeber its older condition. It is almost like all the other hotels in Playa del Ingles: a nice and old building. Part of the dinning hall was renovated. Most of the guests were couples over 60 years old. The hotel has many gay couples and singles because it is close to the Jumbo centre.

Location

There are pros and cons regarding this issue: The hotel is in the middle of a street and the pool is delimited by it. The noise, is because of that, sometimes innevitable, only a couple of rooms are really quiet. The beach is 15 minutes by foot, but there is a free shuttle bus to the beach. The shopping options, as well as the gay-centre are in front of the hotel. The taxi from the airport to the hotel costs around $40 Euros.

Service

Service is ok, the staff was always friendly.
There is an issue here: Because the restaurant is not big enough, there are two meal times, one at 18:00 and the other at 20:00. The staff tries to fill first the less favorable 18:00 meal time. Dinner is just like a 'club-vacation' because one is seated with other guests on the table.

Gastronomy

Unfortunately, the food and the dinner are not what they were before; maybe they changed the cook. The breakfast is every day the same. No cheese variety, the same sausage every day, cantalupes were the only fruit offered....last yeat it was something different! The night's buffet is a similar thing: always the same fish, the same salad bar without a lot of love served....really bad for RIU. Particularly the food was an important part of the hotel.

Sport & Entertainment

The sport is not the strong point in the hotel: Besides a pool and a pin pon table, there is nothing else offered. The night's program was specifically directed to the elderly people: piano music, hit music. Young people looking for animation, are better in Hotel Buenaventura.

Room

The rooms are clean, but extremley clairaudient and without air-conditioner. Not only can the neighbor's TV be heard the whole day and night, but also when they shut the doors and when they move furniture. There is no hairdryer in the washroom either. The rooms are not very big, but they have a good size. There are no non-smoking rooms!

Tips and recommendations

We were not very satisfied with the room...most of the rooms are loud, smokey and the best ones are those around the pool.
The best price ratio is offered, in my opinion, by Hotel Buenaventura: It is bigger and the rooms are nicer, the pool area is awsome and the guests are younger.
