Hotel
6.0
Very clean hotel, all services as described in the catalogue, rooms very clean, you don't have the feeling that the complex is that large. Very many Americans and people from Canada, of course Europeans as well, the average age was rather high while we were there (around 50 years),
Absolutely no communication problems for Germans with little knowledge of foreign languages.
Location
4.5The hotel is located in the very lonesome Bay of Maimon. No possibility of doing anything by foot outside the complex. You can also use the two other Rui Hotels, transfer time from the airport approx. 45 min. Do not book excursions and taxis from the hotel, very expensive!
Service
6.0You really can only praise the entire staff. Always nice and friendly, room cleaning/hotel cleanliness/hotel toilets/hygiene really tip-top. The check-in is very fast, everything was prepared for our arrival.
Gastronomy
6.0Absolutely excellent. Nothing to find fault with!
Sport & Entertainment
3.5The entertainment is aimed too much at playful Americans and in part ridiculous. The evening program was --- well, the entertainers shouldn't address hairy people on the beach by calling them "monkey" or the like. It was only possible to play billiards by reserving in advance. (you have to pick up the balls from the neighbouring hotel! Very boring after the day at the beach (after 5:00 pm). No possibility to play darts or table football/soccer, etc. The beach is as described in the catalogue, but those wishing for a snow-white beach are in the wrong place here. The pool should eventually be renovated. The disco is ok.
Room
5.5Rooms are fine, as described in the catalogue with air conditioning, fan, safe (free), minbar, etc. The towels and bed sheets were fine.
Tips and recommendations
No cell phone reception. Telephone in the hotel very expensive. It is best to take a taxi towards Puerto Plata, because the cell phones work there again. I would never visit the city Puerto Plata at night, because I was already fed up with the beggers and other crooks during the day. Those in seach of a nice resort holiday are catered to very well there (You might want to avoid the entertainment program!)
Hotel review marks: 6 suns = very good … 1 sun = unsatisfactory
