Hotel
3.0
Giant hotel-bunker with 400 rooms. Most of the guests were Dutch and English pensioners. Very family friendly.
Pay attention to the parking: $9 Euros a day!
Location
5.0Very close to the beach, about 20 minutes. The direct surroundings are not so nice (one hotel beside another), it is the typical touring spot where they sell rice grains with your name. Supermarkt and doctor are very close by foot, and the further surroundings are nicer. The airport is 1-1.5 hours away from the hotel and the city is one hour away with the train.
Service
5.0Very friendly, always attentive. There was always someone who could speak German (some German staff). The room"s cleanliness was excellent.
Gastronomy
3.0
One needed to get used to the breakfast: The coffee was not grain coffee, it was instant coffee. The orange juice (and all the other juices too) was lemonade without gas, as a good German juice can be understood. There were always different kinds of bread, toast, eggs, sausage, cheese, marmelade, Nutella, cake, muffins, musli and ceral, fried eggs, fresh oranges of pears from a can.
Dinner was rather disappointing because we expected Spanish food. There was an 'European menu': French fries every day, Gulash, escalopes, etc. The vegetables were always delicious. The pudding for dessert was very bad, thus, it was better to eat the fruit and the ice.
Warning: In the dinning hall sit outside (it is better to tell the staff) because inside one feels like in a bus station.
Sport & Entertainment
3.0The big pool is good. Unfortunately there are always the classical tourists who wake up early in order to reserve the beach chairs with the towels. The beach has hard sand, which after a while hurts, but it is always clean. The animation program is for the entire family and elderly people very nice, but it was intolerable for us.
Room
3.5Clean, but excpet for the satellite TV, it was furnished in a Spartan style and very small.
Tips and recommendations
Most of the time we made trips to Barcelona, Girona, Figueres, Besalu, the Cap de Creus and to Andorra; thus, we only had breakfast in the hotel. We absolutely avoided the tourist-information and so could we really enjoy the vacation. It is necessaary to rent a car there, so that one gets to know the beautifulness of Catalonia.
