We stayed in one of the Rosenrot Apartments. It was a large and very comfortable room, which was spotless. The views from the 2 balconies were great, and the wellness area really made the difference at the end of a long day skiing.

Dorfgastein is a quiet town, but it offers everything you need, there is a good selection of restaurants etc... It made the perfect location for our first ski trip and we can recommend the "Learn to Ski" package run by Ski Amade. Dorfgastein is easy to get to, there is a train station and it is about 1 hour drive from Salzburg Airport.

We took the option of Breakfast, it is well worth the money. A really good selection or breads, meats, cheese, musli etc... You can of course make your own breakfast in your apartment if you wish, the kitchen is well equipped and you can easily cook all your meals.

Sport & Entertainment

It is a short walk up the hill to the ski lift, maybe 5-10 minutes. The ski school was brilliant, and there is a choice of hire places should you need it.

New in 2005 the rooms are fantastic in the Appartementhaus. We didn't see the other rooms in the Landhaus at the front, but from what we did see it was more traditional but still to a high standard.

Tips and recommendations

You must try the Alpen Therme in Bad Hofgastein! There is a nice bar under the tower in the centre of the village, easy to find and a very nice place to drink with friends.
