Really uncomplicated and fun stay!

Hotel
5.5

The hotel is not that large, in fact it fits into to a house that is a couple hundred years old. This means that there're a lot of narrow stairs, but lots of charm. It's gorgeous on the outside and inside. Food is taken in the restaurant and is very good. Anything you need will be delivered to you by the staff if it is not already there. Rooms are comfortable. Staff is friendly, speaks English. Guests tend to be middle-aged.

Location
6.0

Immediate surrounding includes a castle, vineyards, restaurants, bars, and shops. The hotel is right in the middle of the city. The nearest airport is a bit far, but there is shuttle service. Great opportunites for excursions- the hotel is near the Moselle River, so a boat trip is a good idea. Parking is difficult, but walking is preferred, and busses are everywhere.

Service
6.0

Very friendly and willing to help. English is spoken by the staff, not sure about other languages. Check-in was a breeze. Staff was always there to help with any problem that I had.

Gastronomy
5.5

Fresh food, large variety- regional and international specialties are available. Very clean place, really taken care of. Prices fit the hotel.

Sport & Entertainment
4.5

This is mostly a place to relax in terms of hanging out in a hot tub or surfing the web in the bar. Or taking a stroll down to the river.

Room
6.0

Everything that one might need is provided in the rooms. They are pretty big, definitely comfortable for a couple. Everything is clean and orderly. It's loud if you leave the window open (the hotel is in the middle of the city), but windows can be shut. If you need anything, staff will get it for you. Rooms are not cheap, they fit the bill for the fairy-tale theme that they go for.

Tips and recommendations

Best time to go is when it's warm because then you can also enjoy the nature in Bernkastel-Kues, although the winter is nice because of the Christmas markets. Basically this hotel is good all year round.

Hotel review marks: 6 suns = very good … 1 sun = unsatisfactory
