Distance to the beaches down back about 10 minutes, but ... (The "rise" is quite steep! ) The tiny sandy beaches in the town are actually very crowded in the off-season and with pay lounge chairs ridden. I recommend it for those who really like to bathe avoid the extensive beaches of Glifada or Agios Georgios Pagi (approx. 20 km south or north). A complete self catering was difficult as the local supermarkets only a sparse assortment (e.g. B. No meat and only few vegetables/fruit/salad). Numerous and inexpensive restaurants in the immediate vicinity (e.g. B. Nereid, adamah, Nausika, per menu 9.50 to €15 ). Worth seeing on Corfu, we found it to be just the highest mountain with 900 meters Pantokratoras (with view over the entire island and to Albania) and, with drawbacks - the capital kerkyra (approx. 25 km away, but easy to get to, and public buses for €2.10 )

Motor boats to 30 ps can also be rented without driving licenses, for example. about the country tiny walkway to reach the beach bays to palaiokastritsa.
