Wonderful Oriental hotel in the old town *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AVery nice, so-called boutique hotel (at least a 4 star standard) in the middle of the old town of Damascus. In the pre season, in February, it is not very crowded and still inexpensive - 110€ including breakfast. Very nice and large rooms facing the courtyard - bathroom tastefully and modernly furnished. Other guests were mostly Europeans on culture travel.
Location
Very good location in the heart of the old town - in the Christian Quarter near Bab Sharki - shopping and entertainment possibilities directly in front of the door.
Staff were very courteous and friendly - we got by with English - the rooms were cleaned every day, even clothes were folded and "tidied" - cleanliness very good, and complaints or suggestions were quickly responded to.

Breakfast was very good - good mixture of European and Oriental cuisine. Attached cafe/restaurant, very busy, also frequented by locals.
Sport & Entertainment
On-site hammam - used by fellow female travellers - they were thrilled by the offer and service.
Room
The room was very nice - air conditioning (but not necessary at our time of stay) - direct access to the nice courtyard with a fountain, which we had almost to ourselves (pre season).
Bathroom very clean and big enough - with shower.
Overall still in very good condition, as only a few years old (since having been rebuilt into a hotel).
