Benessere Parkhotel Schotten

We found the grocery store underneath the hotel advantageous (especially since we knew beforehand that the hotel bar closed at 11 p.m.), and although our room was on the first floor, directly above, we couldn't hear any noise coming from it (as claimed in other reviews!). The hotel name was not exactly chosen appropriately, since one connects something rather different to the name "Park Hotel". There was no park located close-by, only a small green area on the other side of the road.

Each contact to the hotel staff had above average friendliness (check-in, check-out, hotel bar, the ladies from the spa, the servers in the restaurant). Nevertheless, only 4.5 stars for service because of the hygiene in the room (see below); a person in charge at the hotel should perhaps sporadically control the rooms and keep the maids in line.
We had no problem booking spa treatment on site.

We were completely satisfied with the food (the daily menu on both evenings in the hotel restaurant). The servers were friendly and quick. The breakfast buffet was rich and varied. We only found it a shame that the breakfast buffet was only offered until 10 a.m.....precisely on the weekend, it would have been nice to also have got something to eat at around 10:30 a.m. The hotel bar was open until 11 p.m. Since nothing was to be found nearby, one had to rely on oneself at 11 p.m. ON THE DOT.

The spa treatments were wonderfully relaxing and very recommendable.... (even when the duration didn't correspond with the time mentioned).

The TV hummed almost unbearably and first stopped after it had been on for around 10 minutes. But who needs a TV during a romantic weekend?
The cleanliness of our room was lacking:
- the carpet had spots (ok, one can close an eye to this, it happens)
- 2 long, dark hairs were stuck to the bathroom tiles at eye level (neither of us has long, dark hair)
- the telephone beside the bed hadn't been dusted in a long time, as after picking up the receiver, a clear layer of dust was visible
- not necessarily a sign of lacking cleanliness, but the glasses in the room should perhaps be rinsed using rinsing agent!!
- there was a layer of dust on the shelves in the closet (very annoying when one had placed a dark top on it!!)
Furthermore, it should be mentioned that the walls in the hotel were terribly paper-thin. One could clearly hear one's neighbour cough (amongst other things).
Otherwise, the room had everything one needed. The size was also sufficient. We had a standard room with 3 seating spaces. What was completely positive were the 2 mirrors in the room (plus one in the bathroom). Unfortunately, that isn't the case in every hotel these days.

We were unlucky in that our weekend in this hotel was completely rainy. That can happen in February and naturally isn't the fault of the hotel, but it limited our leisure activities enormously. Should we go to this hotel again, then no doubt in the summer months, when a cold and rainy day would be less probable.
