Paradise hotel
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe spent a week at Bo Phut Resort & Spa at the beginning of April as a part of our honeymoon and we have never had a better holiday. From the moment our taxi pulled up, we entered a world of Thai paradise.
The hotel itself is stunning, with our room and all the public areas decorated with exquisite taste. We had the garden view room, which has a little terraced overlooking the garden. The room is very spacious (the shower room could probably fit 8 people comfortably) and fresh orchids were brought to the room every day. As the tap water is not safe to drink, the hotel supplied us with complimentary drinking water every day, together with bowls of fruit. Everything was clean and the staff came to tidy the room not once, but twice every day!
The level of service the hotel offers is what impressed us the most. Both my husband and I have special dietary requirements and having told one person when we arrived, the rest of the staff seemed to know within the hour. Whatever request or question we had, the staff was quick to help and everyone was always polite and very friendly. We wanted to do a couple of tours during our stay and the hotel did all the booking for us. All we needed to do was sit on comfortable sofas picking out the tours, while sipping fresh coconut milk drinks. When there was a problem with one of the tour organisers, we were not only told immediately, but the customer service staff had already found a different tour operator doing the same tour and booked that for us! The staff was so thoughtful that when we left for the airport, they had even phoned ahead and we had a valet greeting us by name as soon as we stepped out of the car at the airport.
The hotel has two restaurants, which both serve excellent food, although the prices are (predictably) a little more expensive than what you would find in the Fisherman’s Village. One of the restaurants does Thai, which the other (L’Ocean) does International food. L’Ocean is by the pool and the beach, so you don’t even have to leave your sun lounger if you fancy some lunch. The pool attendants also bring around cooling towels and a fruit snack around lunch time, free of charge. L’Ocean had various food themes for some of the evenings, including an Australian barbeque, where I had a the best beef I’ve ever tasted, but the highlight was definitely the Thai evening, when we ate on the beach and watched traditional Thai dancing.
Both my husband and I thought the hotel was absolutely perfect and they made our holiday an incredibly experience. We were a little worried that we would be stuck in the hotel all week because of the recent flooding, but the hotel was not affected at all and the island had recovered extremely well. Even if you didn’t want to venture out of the hotel, you wouldn’t be bored as the hotel had various activities every day (such as wind surfing lessons and Thai massage demonstrations), all free of charge. They also had various activities for children.
If we ever decide to go on holiday in Thailand again – and I seriously hope we do – we will definitely be staying at Bo Phut Resort again. I think the only downside this hotel has is that once you go there, you won’t want to leave!
