Cabaña del Lago Hotel

The location couldn't be better. On the one hand the hotel is right by the lake, on the other hand, the town centre is only a five minute walk away. The views are simply great, in the evening there is a nice view of the brightly lit bay.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff only have a minor knowledge of English. But the restaurant menu includes English translations, so that it doesn't matter.

The breakfast buffet is plentiful and the quality of dinner very delightful.

Indoor swimming pool and fitness room with massage services available. The indoor pool looks very well maintained.

I had a very nice room with a small vestibule with seating area. The actual sleeping area was, however, quite narrow. There is also only one chest of drawers, and no desk. But that is often the case in holiday hotels, unfortunately. There are no balconies just large windows. The furniture wasn't entirely new but very attractive. The bathroom is also rather small, but very adequate. Everything is very neat and clean.

The hotel has free wireless Internet. It is not very busy in winter, the hotel is mainly visited by tourists on a day trip passing through to/from Argentina. Guests were international. In the summer you can swim in the lake, the water doesn't get warmer than 18 degrees celsius, according to my travel agent. The climate in the region is well balanced, which means during the winter there is hardly any frost, in the summer it doesn't get very warm (maximum of 26 -28°C). The town is quite nice, but cannot compete with European lakeside resorts. In this respect, it's rather suitable as a starting point for trips to Peulla, Argentina and Chile.
