Friendly family-run hotel *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe Clovenfords hotel is a small hotel with 8 rooms and is located outside the town Galashiels in Scotland. The condition of our room was OK, if you stay here but expected, a modern 4 -star hotel frequented the will be disappointed. To be fair, I have to say that it is realistically for a 3 star hotel which it lacked many smaller faults, from which we don't have worry. It was however in its glory with £60 per night, per room very cheap, when you see how much the other hotels in the area or in compared to the cities. The cleanliness of the room was ok, there were no complaints. The technical equipment was moderate, the TV didn't work, but due to the short stay didn't bother us. We stayed bed and breakfast than German guests anyway we had to get used to the Scots something else than we have breakfast. A traditional Scottish breakfast was included, but it wasn't our thing, which not due to the quality but rather our taste.
Location
Due to the booked hire car, we were very flexible and had no public transportation. The next town (Galashiels) is about 5 minutes away by car, there was also shopping and bars. The location of the hotel was a great south to travel in the Highlands this was probably one of the more important points.
Big plus! The staff speaks English and we ended up saving) (logically. As the owner always stood at the bar, it is always a contact person for the guests. Free wireless internet connection is available, the owners for access code questions. Cleaning of the room was fine, no problems.
Gastronomy
We had the in-house hotel as mentioned breakfast Including and we also have dinner a la carte in use. The food was good, even though we were the only ones on the appointed evening in the restaurant, which may be due to the locals were on other days went the restaurant or bar.

Room
The room was big enough and slightly outdated furniture. The TV was new, but the software didn't list - we had no interest, or need more activties as large ask. As mentioned above are in particular furnishing and condition maybe 3 stars.
