Good for a short getaway to Bruges! *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe used this hotel for a short break in Bruges and were very satisfied. The hotel was only opened at the beginning of 2010 - the entire decor was new. As is common for the ETAP concept, everything was very functionally designed but very clean, neat and with very smart details. For example, the indirect strip light as a mood lighting, which - like all lamps - was adjustable by means of a touch panel switch above the bed. The shower was a highlight, in the truest sense of the word, because of the LED showerhead. The vanity was openly integrated in the room and the toilet separated only by a thin hinge door - which means that people travelling together should know each other well...
The hotel is located in a new building complex, directly at the train station and all around there is a lot of construction going on. Both of which cannot be heard in the room, however, as the windows are sound-proofed - but unfortunately not to be opened. The ventilation or air conditioning left nothing to be desired, though.
Not quite so satisfying was the breakfast, which was supposed to be an 'all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet' for seven euros per person. The tables were very close together, it was very full and therefore accordingly loud. The breakfast was prepared on a very small tray, plates were not provided. The cold meats selection was very straightforward and 'sterile' - not for everyone. Annoying also was the fact that even basics such as butter and jam were out at 9:00 A.M., although breakfast time was until 10:00 A.M. Here, we had expected a little more. But the coffee was really good.... :-)
The location of the hotel was ideal, from our point of view: easily accessible on the outer ring, right next to the train station - the parking garage is located directly in front. A little tip: drive the car directly on the upper deck, located near the Saturn entrance, you can practically park in front of the hotel entrance - apart from a few steps. The parking garage fortunately costs 2.50 EUR/24 hours, and with the ticket you can also take the bus free-of-charge to the city centre. You can, however, also walk to the old town, all sights are accessible within a short time.
All in all a great price-performance ratio and very recommendable.
