A fantastic family hotel!
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThis is a fantastic hotel with a lot of attention to detail which makes staying here a real pleasure. Most people staying here are families with children making use of the excellent facilities for children and the kids clubs which run 6 days a week. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Location
The hotel is well-located on the hillside overlooking the town of Radstadt. It is a quick drive into Radstadt and to the motorway and less than 1 hour to Salzburg. The views from all sides of the hotel are beautiful with views over the Dachstein. There are plenty of activities locally and if you buy a Salzburger Land card you can do many of them for free. There are many opportunities for swimming and bathing, cable cars, museums, castles as well as lots of well signed biking and hiking trails.
The staff were very friendly and ready to help. They do not have many English families at this hotel but most staff spoke at least some English. They made an effort to translate menus and leaflets of information into English which was very helpful for us. Child care was excellent and my eldest son (11) enjoyed a number of activities. Rooms were cleaned everyday and there was a laundry room as well as a laundry service.
Gastronomy
Food was excellent. A fantastic breakfast buffet started the day with many choices. A hot lunch buffet was provided. A five course meal was provided every evening including a salad buffet and plenty of bread. Soft drinks were free. The children's menu was a choice between a set three course menu or a buffet and the food provided was healthy and appealing to children. Each family is assigned a table for their stay and the atmosphere was friendly in the restaurant.
Sport & Entertainment
The kids' activities were fun and varied e.g. football, volleyball, bonfire night, ghost walk, fishing, pony riding. There was activities for the whole family e.g. hike. The pool was not particularly big but it was pleasant. There were playgrounds and go karts around the hotel and bikes available to borrow.
Room
We stayed in a 3 room appartment with a separate kids' bedroom, living area and interconnecting adult bedroom. There was loads and loads of storage space. There were plenty of towels and there was a television in each room. There was no dvd player and no coffee or tea making facilities though I understand that the latter is usual in Austria. There was a balcony with views over the back of the hotel and the mountains. The beds were comfortable and the appartment was a very good overall size with plenty of space. A fridge was placed in the room on request.
Tips and recommendations
Mobile phones reception good. Internet service provided. If you are British take a travel kettle and mugs and you can request a fridge and make tea and coffee in your room. We also took a small dvd player for the children and this plugged in fine to the tvs provided with a scart lead.
