Good hotel area with a so-so beach *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AIn some areas, we have to come round to the previous reviewers' opinions.
When you arrived before 12am, you had to wait till 1 or 2pm to check in.
The dishes were often not completely clean, and there were many guest from Eastern Europe. But that seems to be normal in almost every hotel in Egypt. And the East European guests weren't annoying or misbehaving, as opposed to some spoiled guests from other countries. Considering the staff, it was like everywhere, there were all kinds of staff members. Most of them made a great effort and were committed. But there were also some who were unwilling to work, as we have them at home too.
Our room was clean, in good condition and was tidied up every day.
However, please note: You should always and regularly reckon with a power blackout, and carry a small flashlight, just in case, as soon as it's dawning (little hotel disease).
Location
It was a bit outside of Hurghada. Not many stores or shopping possibilities nearby.
But you could take the shuttle bus for 2€ per person to go shopping in Hurghada (about a 20 min drive).
The beach wasn't far away but had a dead coral reef offshore which you had to cross to get into the deeper water. There was small area without corals to get into the deep water between the Festival Hotel and the Le Jardin sister hotel next to it.
The entertainers were very friendly (there was child care available too). However, the people promoting massages, tattoos, diving and snorkeling tours could be rather annoying.
As this hotel was a bit remote, you didn't have to be afraid of fly-over noise.
As mentioned above, most staff members were friendly and made a great effort.
Since there were so many East European guests, the staff spoke better Russian than German, but we could well communicate with them using English.
We didn't have any real complaints or objections, so we don't know how they were handled.
We just twice saw that someone was hurt, and the doctor was quickly on the spot (it wasn't a serious injury).

The food was very varying. There was always something different and still somehow the same. It has to be noted, however, that they were trying hard to chill all the delicate dishes such as yogurt and salad dressings, so that we didn't get traveler's diarrhea.
With all inclusive, you could basically eat and drink round the clock (till midnight) everywhere, no matter if on the beach, by the pool or in the hotel lobby. Water bottles, no matter how big, could always be refilled at the water dispensers.
We recommend the Asian restaurant in the hotel itself as a culinary variation.
The Italian restaurant (Mamma Mia) in the sister hotel wasn't the answer to everything.
Sport & Entertainment
As already said, the beach took some getting used to, but both pools as well as the salt water pool were quite nice. Pool chairs and towels were included. The pool was regularly tested, the filters were changed, and it was cleaned right in the morning after a somehow windy night.
We were also allowed to use the beach, the pool and the pool chairs as well as the bars on the beach and by the pool of the sister hotel (Le Jardin).
Entertainment, child care and a disco were available, and you could also use the internet (for a fee).
Room
Our room had functional furnishings and came with a double bed, a small fridge, an even smaller safe, a phone, a shower, a balcony with partial sea view, and you should consider when booking that there were also economy rooms available which were facing the street, and we would have found it annoying to always walk this way for the meals, the beach, the pool, etc. But you just have to decide yourself.
Tips and recommendations
Give tips already from the beginning, even before moving in the room, even if you don't like it (if you're one of the said spoiled stingy and close-fisted guests). That alone could already be a recipe for a nicer and happier holiday, even in case some flaws were coming up.
Well, we shouldn't forget that we're guests in this country and should therefore also take this or that to heart. When in Rome, do as the Romans do, and here, it was just normal to give tips before the actual service.
