Excellent choice for families
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe apartment we got (for a couple with one child & one grandmother - we are from the UK and our child is 4) was fabulous. It was two story, with two huge bedrooms. The communal space was large. The facilities were clean and there was plenty of hot water. There was an upstairs balcony and a downstairs veranda. Looked out on the other apartments and the shopping centre, but at night, which was the only time we were sat there, it didn't matter, as it was dark. There are three rows of accommodation back from the main reception, it is well spaced and didn't feel crowded.
Location
There is a really nice beach about 7 minutes walk along the front from the Hotel. It was really nice for small kids - not rocky, not too tidal, lots of sand. There are loungers on the beach for hire, but they weren't necessary as the weather wasn't too hot (always good in Lanzarote).
There is a supermarket across the road from the hotel, and a shopping centre, with takeaway pizza places, if you fancy a night in. There are lovely restaurants in the Marina, which is minutes away - some are quite expensive. The Hotel has a deal with Lani's €14 for three courses - a good deal for one night (the food is fine). Playa Blanca is only 15 minutes walk along the front or 5 minutes in a car and there is a wide selection of restaurants there. All in all, you could stay here without a car and not be isolated.
The rooms were always clean and a couple of minor queries we had were dealt with quickly - I din't have much dealings with staff as we were out and about a lot.

Sport & Entertainment
The reason I give this an excellent is down to the "entertainment" Having previously avoided like the plague any kind of activities when staying at a hotel, we were (partly due to our 4 year old) drawn into various activities by the wonder that is Gino, a lovely young man from Slovakia, who is a law student, spending his second summer at the Marinero as entertainer. His enthusiasm at any point of day or night was incredible. He persuaded my very reluctant partner to get involved in water polo on a regular basis and the highlight of my child's holiday was the nightly mini-disco. I would never have believed this would be the making of my holiday, but we found ourselves coming back to the hotel at about 3pm every day in order to play by the pool and join in!!!
The pool and children's pools were lovely - although the hogging of the loungers from 9am was annoying - not enough to ruin a holiday though!
Room
As stated previously - it was great.
Tips and recommendations
Best restaurant if you are with kids, was the Tapas bar at the end of the marina, with the lovely Sebastian (owner / waiter) - we had a few lovely meals there and it was very reasonable.
