Ok hotel for youngsters, not for adults/families
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AAllthough it states that our holiday was in 2005, it was actually in 2004, but no option for earlier than 2005.
This was our first trip to Sunny Beach, and we will return in 2007, but will not stay at Balkan again. Typical hotel for young kids, definately not recommended for adults or families.
Pretty noisy at all times, especially at night when the kids return from a night out, which can be pretty annoying. Breakfast restaurant is poor, people allmost fighting over leftovers. Poolarea crowded with youngsters and not very relaxing. Room was actually ok, but I guess we were lucky to have a room in the most quiet section of the hotel. One section of the hotel is facing the main street with lots of traffic noise. Ours was facing the poolarea and even had a view :-) Room seemed abit worn, but not that bad. We rented a fridge, which was installed after arrival. Bathroom not huge, but we've seen smaller.
Best part about Balkan is actually its location away from central, which makes it a little quiter than others nearer to central. But I think a disco has been built right next to the hotel since we were there in 2004, so probably more noise now.
For young people on a party holiday wanting to meet other young people, Balkan is fine. But I would believe that better alternatives should be considered.
