Popular guesthouse. Helpful for travelers.
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AChe Lagarto is a chain of guesthouses in various towns in Argentina. I stayed in one of them, in El Calafate. The guesthouse is rather large and attracts many independent travelers. Even our occasional companions in a taxi from airport happened to go in one guesthouse with me.
Positive side of this accommodation was good central location, inexpensive price, friendly and helpful reception staff, spacious vestibule which serves as a dining and meeting room, a lot of activity and various excursions on offer, that are cheaper compared with other travel agencies in town. We booked there a whole day trip to Glaciar Perito Moreno. Seems, they have their own travel agency with own buses and guides.
Simple breakfast in the morning was included in the room price. During the day they also served meals and drinks.
Downside was very small room and stinking shower. We had a twin room with en suite shower and toilet. All the furniture consisted only of two beds. So I suppose some wardrobe or closet would be useful.
As a whole I had a great experience with Che Lagarto in El Calafate. Recommend.
