Dreaming away @ the Aldemar Cretan Village
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AIt had been a while since we had decent summer holiday so our expectations were quite high this year... We had specific wishes about the accomodation, preferably the entire family (4) in one room, or two neighbouring rooms. We chose the first option and received the key of room 305, located near the eastern border of the hotel. Since the hotel/resort has 5 swimming pools for 344 rooms, you are always near one of the pools. Every pool has a pool bar, so a fresh beverage or tasty snack is never more than a few steps away. Hotel staff are extremely friendly and very disciplinned. (the staff supervisor is always present and checks the restaurants & facilities in person). There are 3 restaurants and they all serve a large variety of traditional and continental food. Quality is excellent and there is always plenty of choice and lots of it. We preferred to stay at the swimming pool in front of our room, but if animation is your thing you should visit the main pool located @ the center of the domain. Two of the three restaurants offer special themes for which you have to book, gala diner, Greek night or Lobster evening (lobster = extra charge), adding an extra dimension. Especially the restaurant at the beach is a must! The sunset there is breathtaking and I will remember it for a long time. What probably pleased us the most is that we always had the feeling the hotel wasn't full at all (although I think it was), there is always enough capacity, in the restaurants, the pools (our pool was almost like a private pool). The hotel management held a special reception for our national holiday, with a three colour cake in our national flag colours, which proves they have eye for the detail even for a small group of guests (+/- 25). Excellent value for money and a holiday to remember.
