Hotel okay, food bad, beach bad *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AOn first sight, the hotel looked better than it was. The individual houses were beautifully embedded into the hillside location. It was disadvantageous for families with strollers since lots of paths had steps. The condition was mediocre, you could say it was slowly losing its shine. Because of this, the hotel didn't seem so clean. We booked all inclusive and got a room on the first floor directly in the front at the pool/beach with ocean view. The rooms were rather on the small side and when the portacrib and the stroller were also in the room, it was just too small. The rooms weren't exactly brilliant anymore but still sufficient. 80% of the guests in the hotel were Russian. The rest were Italian, French, Austrian, Swiss and German guests. You don't have to say much about the topic of Russian guests, there are Russians and Russians.
Location
The location of the hotel was okay. The taxi to the next larger town cost 7 euros. There wasn't much to the left of the hotel. If you walked along the beach you got to two other hotels of the hotel groups. A car rental company and a small supermarket were also at the hotel. The catalog description about the beach wasn't right. In our catalog, it said that ledges were in the water occasionally. In reality, the whole beach in the area of water was a ledge, which made it quite difficult to get into the water and unattractive for kids. The sand was very coarse, because of this, kids couldn't make castles or bake cakes either. The ledges and the sand were also the reason why I only give 2 suns here.
The service was always okay. The rooms were always cleaned well, the bartender and the waiters in the restaurant worked reliably and well.
Gastronomy
Well, this was also a tiresome topic. We stayed in many cheaper hotels or hotels of the same price but the food that we were served in this hotel was really the worst we ever had. That started at breakfast, there were scrambled eggs every day (mostly cold), pancakes (also cold) and boiled eggs. You could say that there were actually only eggs for breakfast. Only one sort of sausage and cheese during 14 days. I never happened to me that I didn't eat breakfast on holiday. Lunch and dinner were eaten in the main restaurant. Apart from a theme evening (Greek), there was mostly the standard food spaghetti etc. The pasta was always overcooked. The food was very greasy, mostly cold and the sauces consisted of water, Aromat and sauce thickener. The cooks always had their mega packet of sauce thickener next to them while they were cooking. The chef then stood in the middle of the restaurant and flambéed a different fruit every day. Once you got pears and once pineapples etc. If I were the chef, I would have been afraid of showing me the guests at the offered food.
There were two theme restaurants which you could visit once each. These were okay. We then went eating in the next town twice. To summarize I would say that the food wasn't acceptable for a 4.5 stars hotel. So only one sun here.
Sport & Entertainment
The pool area was beautiful and sufficient. I give 4.5 suns here since there was a salt water pool with slide and a kids pool.
Room
The rooms were too small and a bit old. The rooms in the first row to the ocean had a very beautiful view however.
Tips and recommendations
The hotel wasn't recommended for a family holiday with child due to the bad beach (ledges and sand) and the hillside location. The food was an impudence. We had a beautiful holiday but we were very disappointed from the hotel.
