Hotel Aldemar Knossos Royal & Royal Villas

The accommodation was fabulous. Big rooms, great air-con and the kids were organised to be in the apartment next door, so we had both freedom and security. The rooms were, clean, cleaned and replenished every day and the surrounding gardens and our outlook onto the main promenade between the beach and the main pool area were colourful and spotless.

Execellent staff service. Always with a smile. Good English generally. Looked after us and always interested in the kids.

More good stuff! The food was excellent. We visited the two main a la carte restaurants and had superb service and dining which was very special. The main restaurant for buffet dining was very good too, though busy during mid-august. Don’t worry about comments of repetitive food, as we could have eaten 14 different 3 course meals and there was plenty of ‘themed’ food too. I’ve never seen my kids eat so much and so many different things. Special mention to Aphrodite (waitress) who looked after us whenever we came into the restaurant.

The entertainment (animation team) was brilliant. Very likeable people, all of them, and interested in talking to every guest, every day. Very professionally run and great fun. Special mention to Mattia, Martin, Andrea....well all of them really! Evening music in the main bar was generally of a pretty high standard if a little loud at times for the area and cocktail conversations. Just one comment, the Saturday night duo....from one musician to another (female singer) you need to perk up your range as you’re flatter than the breakfast pancakes – apart from that foot tapping stuff.

Before more high recommendations, a word of caution and its only my opinion. The resort is undoubtedly a 5* family holiday, though unfortunately some of the ignorant and mannerless guests and their families were not. Just stay clear of the sullen-faced, un-smiling and rudely demanding, you’ll know them when you see them! It didn’t detract from our wonderful experience, and I’m sure every resort has a few guests that appear wrapped up in their self-importance.

This was a wonderful holiday for all four of us. Definitely take the all-inclusive and get involved with the activities. We and the kids met some lovely folk there, guests and staff and would gladly recommend Aldemar Royal Knossos Village to you. We’d love to go there again – bring your friends!
