Amsterdam badly *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AFrom the outside a 'normal' hotels offering fairly good services hotel, located in an old building with about 140 beds. In the attached to hotel is located on the ground floor restaurant "De Roode Leeuw" with a traditional Dutch cuisine. This hotel has been selected from us, because it's central and we would like to go a little luxury city breaks. It is a 4 -star hotel and is in the Baedeker under "luxury hotels" listed. But what we found was everything else than luxury. Not only was it the with much love and taste furnished rooms, the disturbed us, but also the general cleanliness. Everything there seemed dingy and neglected. The carpet had cigarette burns, one wall was the wallpaper unprofessionaly Art renovated (just a wallpaper "them sitting on it"), the heater in the bathroom didn't work (around 8 to 10 degrees Celsius correspondingly warm! ), Besides she was completely filthy, rusty and partly There was peeling paint. The air conditioning unit above the door, gave us the impression as if they throughout the years not been cleaned or taken care of. As a guest of us, we were expected to use the safe, climbing a chair (the shakes already quite substantial) for the upper back to get Schrankfach, there was the safe. Since this is an old building, were the wooden floors and the stairs carpeted). itself is nothing to object, if the hotel in general is not noisy. We enjoyed every Treppenbenutzung the other guests than Exceptional Tread in our rooms, we have heard fighting our neighbors and even these or those "other Nachttätigkeit". The guest structure (you looked at breakfast, the way is not included in the price was) shared on in couples, a city trip but also obviously business travelers.
Location
As already mentioned the hotel including one of us because it absolutely was very centrally located. It is located close to the Royal Palace, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, really are in the heart of the city, in the business and entertainment. Also, there is a large tram stop directly opposite the hotel, if you want to not only by foot. from the train station about 8 to 10 minutes walking accounts for commuting so if you arrive by train.
Contrary to the amenities and condition of the hotel room, the staff did not provide us convinced the front desk. Very nice service, friendly and helpful and even more so when the Amsterdam airport was closed on Monday (Plume) and several guests for help and Neubuchungen asked. We are pretty well with English, if the staff also manage with German knowledge, we don't know. The staff about the room cleaning we never saw them. From as already mentioned, would be a complete thorough cleaning the room absolutely necessary.
Gastronomy
The attached to hotel restaurant "De Roode Leeuw" offers (apparently) typical Dutch cuisine. On our first night we ate there (for convenience as a guest you get a discount of 10 %). We personally didn't like the food tasted especially good. We had pork loin in a pepper sauce, fried potatoes and before a asparagus soup, the impression as if the one or other Maggi Kochstudio-bags the way in the pot. It was just "nothing special" and we would actually this food not than typical Dutch call food. The decor of the restaurant, however, we - as tourists - than typical Dutch. Dark wood furniture and heavy wooden carvings and red decorations.

Room
A Room Details I've already talked above. Still once: probably the "four-star", then take the amenities because there was everything in our room, which the person need: TV, air conditioning, telephone, mini bar, internet connection (surcharge), safe, a kettle, the also stayed seen better days. The bathroom was obviously time newly tiled, showed but will be footsteps of "Umdekorationen", namely: Zugegipste holes for having anything else was appropriate. On the "new" tiles were the old Griffe attached, the rusty and was unwearable. The condition of the heating is already said ... The room was equipped with a double bed, a closet, two armchair with table and a desk with a chair. The mini bar was under the desk. I guess the room has 18 m2, bathroom (shower, toilet and sink) about 3 m2. The summit of everything but was the glass door to the bathroom led! Nice, when sitting on the toilet and the partners can easily follow from all the activities of room! The toilet could also good in the room can!
Tips and recommendations
The value is completely covered. You pay for not the equipment and services of the hotel, but the central location. For four days, including breakfast (not included in the price of the room, cost per person and day 15 euro ) 1100 Euro paying anything for this hotel definitely too much.
