Unhappy with this hotel and resort - not for brits
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A ASuch a pity as the victoria holiday village is a lovely resort with a beautiful sandy beach which is the best part of a mile long and a promanade for long walks.there are many bars and pools that you can use and a few places where you can get snacks and drinks .but after a few days we had to complain to the assistant general manager about the size of dinner plates and shortage of cups and glasses at breakfast time(we had to wait for staff to collect dirty cups and glasses for them to be quickly washed so we could get a coffee or a cup of tea).the choice of food at breakfast was pretty good.we also complained about the a la carte restaurant ,for the main course we ordered grilled chicken as we missed lunch due to not being able to get a table because all tables were either taken or covered with dirty plates etc,so we were hungry, when the main course arrived we couldnt believe our eyes,it was a joke,it was embarrassing, between us we had a leg of chicken,1 thigh and 1 drumstick on small plates with a few chips,we got up and left. the food on offer at lunch and dinner was repative but edible ,not always piping hot, usually luke warm,if you didnt get into the restaurant first you would end up sitting at a dirty table.the restaurant manager had a impossible job.in the evenings we would have a drink in the bar, guess what,no glasses, the bar man would have to go hunting for glasses, give them a quick rinse and serve you your drink if he had what you asked for.on to many occassions there was no vodka ,whisky or brandy and this was the same in the other hotels bars.the only place where we could always get a drink and some peace and quiet was at the atrium hotel.
our pool at the hotel andalucia was not large but was nice, you could get a cold beer or a soft drink or a hot dog during the day that is when the guy serving was there,he kept disappearing sometimes for up to 30mins leaving queues of guests not knowing what was going on,he usually returned carrying a single bottle of sauce and in no time that bottle would be empty and he would repeat the disappearing trick over again.i watched him several times serving the sausages with his fingers, pushing it into the hole in the bread and using the tip of his thumb for the final 1/2 inch he would then lick his fingers and carry on serving the next hot dog and if he got some sauce on his fingers it was like watching a dog.he also often had a cigarette in his mouth, smoking whilst he served you;after our complaint to the assistant general manager Mr Emil Kolev who was a very nice person he told us that they use small plates as a un-named nationality (Russians which we had already been insulted by ) always pile their plates with food and that most gets wasted.a few days later we could see what he meant but the food didnt get wasted,it ended up in carrier bags and shopping bags and taken from the restaurant.one day water melon was put on the dessert table, and a free for all broke out and the poor kitchen assistant who had to bring the trays of melon out from the kitchen looked so petrified and ran for her life because as soon as she put it on the table it was emptied and if woul have stayed by the table she would have been trampled to death.this was not only with water melon ,but cherries ,plums and peaches ,all other fruit were not so popular ,table manners didnt exist or any manners come to that
