Hotel Aphrodite Beach Club

Beach, although not golden sands just across the road from the hotel. Just a 20 minute taxi ride from Heraklion Airport. Local village shopping and tavernas a very short walk away. Hotel facilities so good we didn't venture away on excursions although we undeerstand that a regular bus service operastes to the nearby towns.

This was our second trip to this hotel at the same time of the year and the staff were very friendly and attentive. able to converse in different languages but appreciate it if you try some Greek! Room cleaning was very efficient and discreet.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner all of a very good standard with live cooking. Excellent salad bar with variety of dressings, shredded cabbages, olives etc.,
Service at the tables very efficient with plates being cleared regularly while you eat and well assisted by management when necessary as they keep a close eye on operations. You can eat many Greek dishes or go for more of an international choice all the time. No pressure on tipping but a convenient box for a contribution at the end of your stay if you wish.

Indoor pool plus two large unheated outdoor pools with a very large shallow section for splash time for young children. All of these areas surrounded with sunbeds and access to bars for drinks. Tennis court very popular to be booked by the hour and a five a side football pitch. Mini golf and table tennis available all free of charge. Pool tables by coin payment and saunas and fitness rooms at extra charge.
Last year Kids Club was supervised without parental support which was excellent but this time with a new girl it was availabe but only with parental involvement so not so good. An excellent mini disco run in the evening for 30 minutes.

ample size in bedroom with air conditioning and a very useful fridge. |Nice balcony area for two to sit comfortably and private. TV with local programmes and CNN and BBC News. Some renovation has been going on over the past 2 to 3 years with up to date electronic key acces to the rooms.

Overall this hotel provides excellent value for money and enables you to get the feel of the Greek Community either through the hotel staff or the local villagers and is highly recommended by us ass a family with two young boys ages 4 and 7. We will definitely be going back next year if the price structure of the hotel and the air fares remain reasonable.
