Four stars hotel, 15 kilometer from Venice *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe spent two nights at the hotel apogia Sirio in Mestre, in order to visit Venice.
The hotel has been recently renovated, the facade of the Hotel please do not let this put you off. Our room (double room on the fifth floor, corner room) was decorated in a modern style, as well as the lobby and the outdoor lounge area.
Parking was free at the hotel (closed and video camera surveillance).
Rooms: we stayed in a new double room (mini-bar, air conditioning, safe against extra charge in the room, tv: small flat screen tv (with international channels, otherwise there were many Italian channels). The bathroom was unfortunately not renovated (still) (facilities: shower, toilet, bidet, sink, about 1970's, but this was okay for a short stay.).
Very good infrastructure: bus station to Venice is located in three minutes away. Tobacconist's, in the tickets for bus and vaporetto (water taxis in Venice) can buy, is located directly next to the hotel. Ladies at the front desk can give information (English).
We took the 24h ticket (valid for bus from Mestre including vaporetto to Lido/Murano/Burano and to Mestre back-especially fun made it, a bit out of the Italian life taking).
Guests: different age groups, International (French group, Japanese group, Italian (with kids), Austrians.
Restaurants and shopping in immediate proximity to walk reachable:
Shops, as well as a small shopping center, fruit and vegetable, are located nearby the hotel (about ten minutes walk).
Restaurants: small cafes in the immediate vicinity. Italian restaurants, trattorias & Oste RIAs-exalted ambiance in about ten minutes walking distance (nearby town hall, Mestre). Cheap (delivery) pizzeria directly across the street from the hotel-across the road from the roundabout.
The hotel has no pool, in five minutes walk is a public swimming pool-but we didn't use it.
We had overnight stay with breakfast. Unfortunately, there was in buffet-only from vending machine coffee (good) or tea, espresso for 1.50 euro however in the hotel bar to buy. Delicious croissants, rolls at the breakfast, fresh fruit, ham, sausage, cheese, butter, jam.
Very nice manager of the hotel and friendly ladies at the front desk.
Conclusion: very good value for money, for both short-term travellers, the nearby Venice transport would want to stay highly recommended (and not baggage through the canals of Venice),.
