Hotel Aquis Silva Beach

On arrival at the hotel, on the main and only street in Hersonissos I was a bit dissapointed but, fortunately, only the foyer fronts onto the main drag. Having booked in and been photographed for the room key card - not the usual AI rubber bracelet!! - you then enter the oasis that is the tree-lined Village layout that stretches right down to the beach. Each small group of rooms are only 2 stories high and most of them have their own balconies, so you can always sun bathe without having to go to the pools or the beach.
I was glad, though not surprised, to find that none of the reported booking of all the sun loungers before dawn was at all in evidence! You do have to wonder whether all the reviewers on this site actually visit their hotels. With no children around it was mainly very peaceful, though the in-house 'entertainment team' were perhaps a bit OTT, I was certainly in the minority in this view, being well into my 7th decade, most of other guests seemed to enjoy it greatly.
The staff were welcoming, helpful, attentative and most of them had enough English to answer any queries that you might have had. I must single out the Maitre De - Nikos who reall;y was most friendly and offered 5 star treatment to everyone, he made my stay quite memorable.
My only criticism,which I am assured is being looked into, was that the WiFi was not quite
what it should have been - fast it was not.
I would strongly recommend a visit to the Ancient Temple of Knossos and a walk through the three villages in the hills just inland from the town.
I have, since being widowed three years ago, had All Inclusive holidays in Malta and Turkey and would certainly put this one at the top of my list.
