A good spa in the middle of nowhere *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A ADuring a stay in beautiful Tallinn the mother of my wife had a stay in the above a hotel. The spa hotel is about 2 years old. The Number of rooms is 75. So a complex medium size. The hotel is absolutely very modern and very clean. We had breakfast, which is good, but for the Westerners took some getting used to. There are salmon in the piece and other different types of fish. Juices, cereals, etc. but have sausages, vegetables, etc. A mixture of guests. Mostly Finns, Estonians, Russians of various ages ... no German!
Location
The distance to the Baltic Sea is about 25 kilometers. The hotel is centrally located in the town of Rakvere. To the airport was about 120km away to Tallinn. Shops of the day-to-day needs are within walking distance. As well as cafes and restaurants. There were many excursion possibilities nearby or further afield. To in Estonian/Russian border to Narva about 123 km. An old Ordensburg is only 10 minutes away. We highly recommend the patisserie left of the gas station.
The friendliness of the staff limits. A friendly greeting is not necessarily responded to. But this is no offense just traditional limited. Estonians are rather low-key. The front desk was friendly, but in general it was certainly have gone a need for improvement. Otherwise it was the service professional and quietly in the background. Check-out is at 12 :00 p.m. !
Gastronomy
We ate one night at the cafe Arabella and one in the Mezzo restaurant. Both at the hotel. The café is more for snacks, pizza, etc. The food was ok for the price, most expensive seafood pizza 6 E! Neat drinks and good service. I personally was as a die-hard Mac person from the Mezzo know Italy you can absolutely surprised. Mezzo is comparable to a German dining options which range. The starters were great and the main courses excellent. The drinks were also well maintained. Prices ... absolutely moderate and about 50 % cheaper than in Germany. 4 People with appetizers, drinks and espresso about 65 E. The atmosphere is the hotel.
Sport & Entertainment
Yes a spa hotel lives of course from the spa. The area shares in a bathing area with everything the heart could desire, a sauna and about 8 different saunas and a Wettkampfpool before tucking into. Everything is very well maintained and in technically einwandfreuen condition. Cleanliness is good too okay....aber the spa is also for an extra charge open to the public. Therefore it was noisy and crowded at the weekend. Moreover, the new idea of visitors do as we have a sauna in Germany. Alcoholic drinks in the sauna, frequent open and close the doors and noisy conversation are an expression of the eastern european joie de vivre and were for I had to get used to. This may week will surely quite different. Still all these problems 2 points deduction.
Room
It is used for me very rarely vor..aber our room was absolutely very good. All new, clean, quiet, flatscreen, great beds, a nice design the furniture..great linens and an excellent en round the overall impression.
Tips and recommendations
In general it was outside of Tallinn a lot cheaper. The value for money is for us Eurobesitzer can't be beat. Ultra-modern European standard at half the price. We stayed for 2 people with breakfast and free access to the spa 150 E paid for two nights. Also the additional costs are about 50 % cheaper. Meanwhile has always more such facilities in Estonia. If you find a good flight (99E) Frankfurt/Tallinn caught it can also with family a cheap alternative to other resorts in the south. A lot of nature and good air are included.
