Very wonderful week in El Gouna *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe complex is not very large -145 rooms, divided on two floors To reach the rooms in the ground floor all guests have to pass by the dining room. It is certainly somewhat louder there. We were on the second floor -the further away from the steps, the better. The rooms are not very large, but sufficient, very clean. If you have a room with a view of the pool, the view from the window in the evening is GREAT and it is WONDERFUL from the dining room too. The many lights are refected in the water - wonderful atmosphere. The food is very good, and always warm and plenty. However, there is only little fresh fruit.
There are almost exclusively Germans in the hotel. The staff understands and speaks German pretty well too and they are remarkably friendly, even if you don't constantly give them a tip.
Location
El Gouna is a very nice, very clean and above all very safe location. Only people that work there or spend their holiday can enter. This holiday location has a certain flair and a very nice atmosphere. You can buy a weekly pass for the open bus for 2.50€ and take all four trips as often as you like. Definitely get out at the port, very nice there. For 2€ you can travel back and forth to Hurghada with the public bus.
Everyone is very friendly, they speak and understand German. The rooms are always very clean.
Gastronomy
The food was very delicious, always three different main dishes, beef, chicken and fish, several side dishes, salads, soup and delicious cakes and pudding. The dining room was very clean, the tables were always cleaned off immediately. The selection of drinks at the bar could be better, only two cocktails and the usual - beer, wine, vodka, rum, softdrinks, etc. The service was always quick and friendly.
Sport & Entertainment
There were always enough deck chairs and overlays. The pool was heated, approx. 27 degrees.
Room
Very clean but small rooms, but they were sufficient. 4 TV programs in German.
Tips and recommendations
If you are planning a trip with the U-Boat, forget about it. It is a total rip-off. All you get to see is a dead reef and a few palish improperly fed fish. And you have to pay 50 € for that.
