Nice hotel with great location *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe Bahia resort set on a headland in the Mission Bay. Next to the 4 -story main house is the hotel only composed of a maximum two-story buildings, where a relatively large room. The area was neat and clean with our stay at any time. Parking was ample. The hotel is not very new, and the shows in the one or the other also (such as the carpet in the room). But it is not so much so that you feel uncomfortable here because. The guest structure was a colorful mix: many Americans (on the weekend we three wedding here), some Europeans (mostly German). You find all age groups, taking our time more younger crowd (less than 40 ) was on duty.
Location
The hotel is in a great location. The peninsula in the Mission Bay is through the hotel "full", although the beach at the Ostseiten is open to the public. influx as some Mediterranean beaches can be found here though not even at the weekend. The beach on the west of the headland is the beach in front of the hotel. We were here on two visits more or less alone - fantastic. You walk to the Pacific Ocean-beach 24 10 minutes, but is nice because you can stroll through park-like grounds and only little right walk on the road. Shopping opportunities are within walking distance, but also the nearest supermarket 10 minutes away by car. different restaurants/bars, in a pub you must have been 10 mins walk or go right. There were many possibilities a mass. Sea World is for example within five minutes' drive (and for those who want to save the excessive parking theme park, could even walk there), downtown San Diego Approximate driving time is 15 to the airport, a little less.
Check-in was friendly and the concierge helped with questions about shopping malls etc. competent. Without English one probably through, but you shouldn't expect too much. There is a small store, where you can buy souvenirs and postcards/stamps. The room cleaning was totally okay.
Gastronomy
The restaurant associated with the hotel made a good impression. We ate dinner there twice. The food was nice, not too American (there were for example no burgers on the map! ) and the service friendly and accommodating. As always in the United States are especially children absolute king (including children menu with the unavoidable chicken Niggets). The price was all ok. For the servicing of dinner with drinks we paid $24 80.
Sport & Entertainment
The hotel has a lovely outdoor swimming pool with a large jacuzzi. The pool is set in the hotel grounds and through the walls around it really peace in the hotel grounds cars etc. The pool area was clean and well maintained. Beach chairs were in sufficient number available and we could at anytime pool towels. There was also a few umbrellas. The pool bar is open on the weekend and you can all manner of drinks and cocktails for fair prices. bill about the hotel bill. A small fitness room with a few intact and seemingly well-maintained equipment (and tv) and a games Point with free video games can also be realized by the pool area. On the west of the lagoon is the hotel beach, which was also (with sun loungers are available. At least end of September it was absolutely no problem, here to get a seat. The beach was clean and for children it was especially nice because there were no surf. The Pacific Ocean itself, it is different matter, what some small child also scary.
Room
We had an apartment-like room at the rear of the hotel (east side). The room was large with 2 queen sized beds. In addition a kitchenette (stove, fridge, sink, crockery, pots - everything was available) with a bar area and two bar stools. Moreover, there was a table with 4 chairs, and of course TV with lots of channels. Wireless Internet access (surcharge)(either with your laptop or a TV) was on offer. A huge fridge left for us all right for a hotel nothing to be desired. The bathroom was not huge, but in acceptable condition. Overall, the rooms are not brand new, but everything was in good condition and functional. The carpet could probably be changed (but that wasn't dirty, but a little worn).
Tips and recommendations
San Diego in September was just amazing. It was not too hot and the cool breeze from the Pacific Ocean is a barely noticeable that the sun quite burns. Sometimes you even fog, but it is among the mid day warp. Due to the kitchen in the room we had breakfast made (bagel, some cold meats, cereals, milk, juice) and then went for lunch and dinner. Sea World should take you, even though the Eintrittpreise salted. Old Town San Diego evening is well worth a visit - great Mexican restaurants with live music and much margaritas, sangrias. The beach on the peninsula Coronado is very nice. A cool shopping mall - "Horton Plaza" - there is in downtown San Diego. Not far from the Bahia resort is the Fashion Valley Mall - nice as well, but rather designer goods.
