A Relaxing, Friendly, and absolutely lovely Hotel
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThis historic hotel has maintained its fine decor in very good condition. It is scrupulously clean with lots of light in the rooms and public areas. Breakfast offerings were very diverse and fresh. Dining room staff at dinner were superb! Their special teas and tea ceremonies were new to me and it added a nice relaxing touch to the meal.
Location
The grounds are lovely and the short walk to the boat docks is very pleasant. The Olympic Museum is next door, only a short walk.
Staff demonstrates thorough training. They are genuinely friendly and are happy to help with questions and problems. One gentleman in our group had a bad fall and injured his face and hand rather seriously. The staff was very concerned that he had what he needed. In fact, one of them went to a local pharmacy and bought him bandages and medication he needed.
Gastronomy
Restaurants and bars were clean, well decorated, and had well trained staff. They seemed to enjoy providing little surprises and extra service. Prices are in line with most upscale restaurants.
Sport & Entertainment
The new spa is a terrific addition to the hotel. The pool temperature was comfortable and the water was absolutely clean and clear. The hotel hot tub was pleasant but not as hot as I prefer. A variety of spa treatments were available. The spa staff were attentive and helpful.
Room
My deluxe room overlooked the lake. It was rather plainly decorated. The balcony was small and sparsely furnished. The room was very quiet and the power awnings kept unwanted sun out of the room. The bathroom was beautiful and always very clean. The lower cost room "overlooking the garden" was gorgeous; a good buy.
Tips and recommendations
The hotel offers special packages including meals at Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc. There are wonderful programs offered for children. It's a family friendly hotel. With it's wonderful dining, large quiet rooms and new spa it's a great choice for a honeymoon or anniversary.
