Great stay in a hotel with character
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel room was spacious and clean; staff were very friendly and accommodating; the hotel was not modern but had character which gave it more charm. They collected and took luggage to/from the station and it was only a 5-10 mins walk from the station just back from the main street. The breakfast was more than sufficient (cereals/meats/bread) and the evening meal choices were good every night
Location
5-10 mins walk from the station. Very close to the main high street. Good location as a starting point for walks in the local area. 3. 5-4 hours by train from either Zurich/Geneva (pleasant journey/lovely scenery). Train service is superb with trains running to the stated timetable. Traffic free town with only a few electric run vehicles.
Great service; friendly. Can't fault them.
Gastronomy
Meals varied - fish/meats/vegetarian/pasta/vegetables.
Breakfast - not a huge range but more than sufficient. Suited us.
Clean and tidy.
Sport & Entertainment
I believe there is a small spa suite but never used it. There is a Tourist Information Centre 5 minutes from the hotel. Internet Access (but I never used it). Makes a great base more than an entertainment hotel (no evening entertainment etc).
Room
Room very spacious. Bathroom recently renovated and fantastic (shower was great). All clean. Very quirky.
Tips and recommendations
Fly Rail service is great (use it if you can). Switzerland isn't cheap but there are supermarkets and restaurants available that help make it affordable. Shop around!
