Hotel Belverdere Grindelwald

Welcome started at reception. A simple signature and then a complementary drink in the lounge or terrace. How nice to have a few moments to take in the beautiful view to the mountains. When we were ready, escourted to our room. Spacious, wonderful fruit basket, clean and cofortable.
Location
A short walk from the railway station and village centre, but quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Hotel will collect you/luggage from station.
All staff, from reception, porter, restaurant, room cleaning very friendly and helpful. Shuttle available to and from the railway station. Used rail luggage transfer and reception organised collection of luggage and delivered to room.
Wide range of languages spoken.
Gastronomy
Restaurant serves a wide selection of food, all to a high standard. Can choose 3 or 6 courses or from a la carte. Breakfast buffet - cereals, fruit, cheese, meats, various breads, eggs, juice, jams etc.
Evening meals a wonderful mix of Swiss and other countries food. Lovely atmosphere, gentle piano music, attentive, yet not rushed service.
Sport & Entertainment
Beautiful pool and outside bubble pool. How wonderful to relax and take in the views of the mountains.
Wide range of spa treatments.
Internet access available, including use of a PC. Games room available, but we did not use as the weather was so wonderful.
Room
Rooms furnished to high standard and excellent condition. Large bed, with adjustable head rest. TV with channels from across the worls. Kettle and tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar, safe, telephone, bath robes, hair dryer, towelling slippers (for you to take home). Chair to sit at marble desk and comfortable chairs next to glass coffee table. You indicate when you would like sheets and towels replaced - can be daily. Balcony and opening doors/windows give views across the valley and village.
Tips and recommendations
Excellent value for money. Have visited the hotel approximately 12 times since 1984. Visits have been both with a tour/group and as an independent traveller. The same high standard of service and facilities have been maintained throughout this time. The hotel staff provide a friendly, yet professional service.
Visited from May to mid October. Had blue sky and sun mixed with snow on the mountain tops at different times. If it rains, hotel have good supply of umbrellas and an easy walk to the railway and gondala rides for wonderful views.
Make use of the travel passes, even if not there for 6 days, it can be an economical way to travel and see the sights of the area. Take small case with 'overnight' items and make use of excellent rail luggage transfer system. Well worth the money. Can' check in' for flights at local station and your luggage taken.

Your review is better than our hotel brochure, but there is of course a very important difference. If you write it, people read it with interest, would I write it, nobody would be interested. This makes is so valuable. We are happy to have regular guests from all over the world, I think this is also what our guests like, to have that contact with so many different cultures.This year, my wife Silvia and I celebrate the 25th anniversary of our start in the business. It was in October 1986, just after we got married, that my parents passed the responsability of the hotel over to us. Lets see, if the 4th generation will be interested in taking over in about 5 years.
