Excellent Hotel
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AHave stayed several times before; what impresses us is the continued improvements - The swimming pool area is now very impressive, with two sauna's, two steam rooms and a wonderful quiet area to relax in after a swim/sauna/steam.
The buffet breakfast is very good and more than enough to last all day! Wonderful choice of cereals, cold meats and cheese. There is also a Hot dish which changes daily. Service is very good with and attentive staff. English is widly understood in the hotel.
Evening meal, ordered at breakfast time consists of a huge salad buffet, soup, starter, with a choice of three main courses (including a vegetarian option). There is also the option of requesting something not on the menu if you do not fancy any of the three and dessert
Location
Located just outside the main town - Muehlbach, on the way to a small ski area - Arthurhaus, which is normally empty during the week as most people ski the main area in town. Over 5 villages are now linked via a ski lift system, which involves a direct route of over 64 km of skiing there and back. Skiers are collected and returned to the hotel by a free bus service, which serves all ski areas.
Guided walks are available at least once a week; torch lit during the winter evenings.
Most of the kitchen and restaurant staff have been there for many years and returning year after year during our 'standard' two weeks. A warm welcome is received from all these staff and nothing is too much trouble. A range of languages is spoken, with most staff speaking some English. Rooms are very clean, with a bottle of drinking water supplied daily from the hotel's own well. The cleaning staff are very pleasant and again nothing is too much trouble.
Gastronomy
A nice bar area for drinks before dinner. Food is excellent and a wide choice is available and if you wish something that is not on the menu it can be provided on request. The salad buffet contains something in the region of 16-18 dishes; bowls are large but you can visit the buffet as many times as you like. The food, while international, is slanted towards traditional Austrian food but not overpowering. The atmosphere is very relaxed - not really the place to stay if you want to party into the night.
Once a week the whole kitchen team serve guests in the restaurant, wtih a themed evening - Austrian, Italian or Asian, which changes weekly.
Sport & Entertainment
Good swimming pool with whirl-pools built into the pool. 2 sauna's (one up to 70C the other 95C. Two Steamrooms, again one hotter than the other. Lots of sunloungers, in two areas - one a quiet area for relaxing and reading, the other more for families with children. Free cordial is available along with water from the hotel spring.
Room
Several standards of room are available to cover all price ranges. All have TV, telephone, some have a mini-bar, safe, sofa, table and chairs. Some family rooms are also available with glass partitions to section them off. Balconies have chairs and a table and cushions are available.
Tips and recommendations
Mobile phones allowed in the lounge but guests are requested not to use them in the dinning room or pool area. Wi-fi is available free of charge in the lounge and at a small cost in rooms.
