Great hotel on Lake Garda *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel was quite large (185 rooms) but neat. It was very clean and seemed new, it could be booked with breakfast, half board or full board.
During our stay, there were German, British, also quite a lot of Italian and a few Austrian guests.
There was a garage which, like all the lifts, could be opened by the room card.
Location
The hotel was separated from the lake only by a street, the Cisano district was only a short walk away and could be reached along the lake promenade, there you could find a couple of restaurants, bars and minimarkets as well as various supermarkets, enotecas, etc. on the way to Bardolino. On foot, Bardolino could be reached via the lakeside promenade in about 15 minutes, but that was a nice "giro" after dinner in the evening.
Excursions were possible to all places around Lake Garda, also Verona was only 29km away...
The staff was very friendly, all of them spoke German or English, but you were also "allowed" to use your own knowledge of Italian, which was rather difficult in many other places...
The room cleaning was also great - no cause for complaints.
Gastronomy
We had half board, the breakfast buffet was very rich, and everything was regularly replenished. In the evening, there were a salad buffet and set meals to choose from, very good Italian food, also fish/sea food, a dessert buffet and a small choice of cheese. Our highlight was the gala buffet: Since I usually don't like buffets, we were already planning to have dinner somewhere else that night, but, thank goodness, we didn't go, as the buffet was fantastic - it was our last evening, and we "could" even sit on the terrace then - very nice! But the dining hall was nice too, there were small niches and parts everywhere, so it wasn't a huge hall.
As usual, the wines in Italy were cheap compared to home, there was a good choice, a sommeliere was available.
The waiter of our table changed twice, both of them were very friendly and attentive, it didn't hurt to tip them, of course...
For lunch, we mostly had a toast/a focaccia or the like at the pool bar, the prices were OK, you mustn't have been in a hurry, but it wasn't that bad.
Sport & Entertainment
Wonderful pool area with various massage jets, and since we were mostly at least half a day on the road, we only used the pool, not the lake. Because the beach was opposite of the hotel between the street and the promenade and there was quite a lot of reed, I think we didn't really miss something. Showers were available right at the pool, as well as enough pool chairs (that might have become harder in high season) and a toilet.
Room
We had a land view room in the main building, the lake view rooms actually just had pool view, so you didn't have to book them.
The furnishings were great, big, very nice, new, also a bathroom with bathtub, toilet, bidet and a huge mirror. Mini bar and water kettle available. We didn't use the balcony, but it came with a nice table and 2 armchairs.
Tips and recommendations
We were there early in September, but since the hotel also had a great spa concept, we'd also recommend it in autumn/winter!
